Product Review: Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash Off

Photo by Suzy Hazelwood from Pexels

For quite sometime, sugar has been known for its microbead-like texture that is effectively used for deep cleansing. I have seen it used from a lot of DIY (do-it-yourself) skincare. Though, you should be careful as this might be too abrasive if used improperly. So today, I will be doing my product review about this one cult favorite korean product, the Black Sugar Mask Wash Off from SKINFOOD. Let's go straight with the review.

My 10 Step Korean Skincare Routine / Philippines

Koreans are known for their smooth, baby-like skin. Although some may say that it goes with their bloodline or their culture of the food they eat, we can also cannot deny the fact how they are truly devotional to their skincare. They are so dedicated to the point that they originated the 10-Step Skincare Routine. Yes, 10 steps unlike the usual 4 to 5 steps skincare. Today, I will be sharing with you my Korean Skincare Routine which I'm currently in love with.

My Vegetable Salad Recipe with Homemade Croutons

So, today I will be posting my vegetable salad recipe which is very easy to make, very popular recipe and procedures. Let's go straight with the ingredients.

Ingredients:

1. Cucumber                          5. Few cloves of garlic
2. Singkamas                        6. Salad dressing (I use mayonnaise)
3. Green Lettuce                   7. Butter (I use Dairy Cream)
4. Fresh Tomatoes                8. Bread of your choice (for your homemade croutons)
Procedures:

1. Wash the lettuce. Cut the bottom part then start to chop into chunks. Put in a big bowl.
2. Coat lettuce with the salad dressing, but do not overcoat. Keep some for later use.
3. Wash tomatoes then cut as desired size. Set aside.
4. Wash cucumber then remove skin and cut as desired size. Set aside.
5. Wash singkamas then remove skin. Then start to chop as desired size. You might not want to put a lot of singkamas in your salad and to chop big chunks as this may cause indigestion.
6. Put these three (3) ingredients in the bowl, then add the salad dressing and start to mix.
7. Make sure to cover all the ingredients with the dressing. Set aside.
8. To make your home made croutons; Heat a pan, then, prepare two (2) to three (3) bread of your choice (I use white bread) and remove each brown side. Then start to cut into squares.
9. Mince a garlic. With the heated pan, put a generous amount of butter.
10. Wait till the butter melted. Then put the minced garlic.
11. Stir the garlic all over the pan then remove till golden brown.
12. Add the bread. Make sure to cover each side of the bread with butter. You may want to add more butter, don't worry, the garlic will still taste.
13. Continue to stir until toasted (which I like the most) then put at the top of the salad after. And we're done. Enjoy your salad 🙂

I love the croutons the most. I believe that without the croutons, it's just a plain, simple, ordinary vegetable salad. It just gives more flavor (saltiness) and texture to it. I also like the combination of lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes and singkamas for its taste and health benefits. And the sourness of the mayonnaise just balanced it all. I have watched almost all of these vegetable recipes in Youtube and I noticde that most of them were just the same or almost have the same ingredients and procedures, just different variations, so I collect all the ingredients I can and follow all the procedures I can, then I come up with these.

Innisfree Volcanic Cleansing Foam & Toner Trial Kit

Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Foam is a pore cleansing foam with Jeju volcanic clusters to attach to sebum and purify pores.  Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Toner is a clarifying skin toner that whisks away impurities and excess sebum that may lead to clogged pores and a dull complexion. Refreshing toner contains volcanic scoria mineral powder that purifies and clarifies skin, leaving it relaxed and renewed with a vibrant glow.

So, last Friday 04/20/18 while I was browsing Lazada, looking for an affordable but legit seller of Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Cleansing Foam, I came across this trial kit consisting of the said cleanser together with its respective toner. For just P260.00 (excluding shipping fee) you have your own cleansing kit (but wait till you see its actual size).

VOILA!!!
It is almost as big as a thumb, literally!!!

Php 260.00 (excluding shipping fee)
Where to buy: Lazada / Kbeauty Shop
Foam Cleanser (10mL) Toner (13mL)

(It comes with a free cotton pads and sheet mask from Real Nature)

(It also comes with this cute box)

At first, I was shocked and excited not just because I found the cleansing foam I was looking for but also it comes with a toner from the same beauty line. I ordered last Friday and successfully delivered this morning (Monday), so not bad for Lazada. Now regarding the product, I must say the cleanser is legit, since  I have a sachet version of this foam cleanser which I bought from KStyle PH, a korean store which happens to have a physical store in our town. Though, I am not quite sure with the toner since I haven't tried it before. I love that it comes with a free sheet mask and cotton pads, if not for those I will not give this a 5-star rate in Lazada 😉 Just take note that none of these (the innisfree products) were sealed. I don't know if it is originally like that. Will I repurchase? I don't think so. For it's price P260.00 plus shipping fee, I would rather spend it on other stuff than order this online, but this is best for those who just want to try Innisfree cleansing foam and toner. If this product is great, I would buy the bigger size.

Product Review: Pond's Flawless White BB Cream in Beige

BB creams are known for its lightweight formula and coverage (compare to foundations) yet provides the benefits of a skincare. It is also great for everyday use as it covers imperfections naturally. Today, we will talk about Pond's Flawless White BB Cream in Beige.

Php299.00 for 25g
SPF 30 PA++
Where to buy: Department Store, Supermarket, Watsons, Online Shops

The first time I saw this, I told myself that there's no way I'm gonna buy this due to its price and it doesn't look like it has lot of product in it. But when I'm stress, I really have to buy what I want. So I got this, paid it and brought it home, haha. Going back to the review, this is a great product for a BB cream. It has a foundation-like coverage (medium to high) yet still remains its lightness on your face. It has a mild scent, almost unnoticeable when applying. It has a right consistency, not too runny nor too thick, and is easy to blend (I use damp sponge). Also, the packaging is very clean and simple, one will not make a mess while using this product. I like that it has SPF 30 PA++ great protection against UV rays and prevent premature aging. One more thing is, it really stays for 6 to 8 hours for me. Yes, it really does. I do still oil up but blot then retouch and we're all good.

The downside of this product is its price. It is pricey (for some, like me) just to use for your everyday look, but take note that you'll get a 25g of the product. As far as I can remember, you can get a smaller version of this one which retail for Php199. The other thing is, only 2 shades are available (Light and Beige) which I'm sure will not match for all Filipina skin tones.

I don't know if you can really see on the picture but it instantly brighten and evens out my skin tone. Also it does cover my blemishes and redness around my cheeks, sides of my nose and chin. By the way, this is in a natural lighting, since I'm quite in a rush because I have to go to work this morning. I'm sorry I wasn't able to take a picture after 4 hours or after work. (Please disregard my hair here, haha)

But overall, I'll give this a 4/5 rate. If we'll not consider the price and since the Beige shade suits me really well, this will be a perfect BB cream for me. That's all for today. See you on my next blog lady. Fighting!!

Product Review: 92% Aloe Vera Soothing Gel by Nature Republic

It has 92% Aloe Vera leaf extract, provides a refreshing feel to the skin, provides soothing and moisturizing effects to the sensitive skin, keeps the surface of the face and body healthy

This product is one of the reason why I totally embrace the Korean Skincare products. I saw and heard lots of great reviews about this, especially this brand. Since it's locally available here and affordable (for its size) I decided to give it a try. So, let's get straight into the review.

You might also want to read my review about this amazing clay mask from Innisfree (link here: Product Review: Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask )

 Price: Php250 (Sale) ; (Original Price) Php300

Where to Buy: Physical Stores of Nature Republic
Online Shops (such as Althea and KStyle PH )
300mL / 10.56 fl. oz.

  • Scent - I am not very much familiar with the smell of a real aloe vera plant but this product has a mild, clean and pleasant smell into it which also earned lots of praises from other bloggers/vloggers.
  • Consistency - a lightweight, transparent gel (almost water in consistency)
  • Price -  very affordable for its size and quality.
  • Packaging - it comes with a big, green, circular tub. The top shows the product name, brand, its volume and some korean writings. The bottom shows the ingredients, cautions, how to use and short description of the product while the rest is written in korean. I also like that they put a plastic lid after you open the cover to prevent it from spilling. Also, they embosed the name of the product's name at the side of the cover and at the bottom.
  • Quality - this is one of my holy-grail products. It really does smoothes, softens and moisturize my skin. One thing I realized after using this product is my skin is not just oily but also dehydrated (lacks moisture). That's why this does a miracle for my skin. I use this every night as a sleeping mask only. I use plastic spoon (to be more hygienic than using your fingers) to spread all over my face, wait for it to dry before I go to sleep. Then I will wake up with a glowing skin, which gives me a good mood every morning.

That's it for the review. I think the only downside is you really have to wait for it to dry before you can go to sleep, but I'm not complaining, haha. I'm almost finish with the whole tub. Well, approximately, it lasted me for 2 months, given that I use this every single night. So this will really last for a long time. I highly recommend this for everyone, for any skin type, for those who does not bother smudging a gel onto their face and wait for it to dry, haha (it will take up to 5 - 10 minutes before it can completely dry). Will definitely repurchase this. Just waiting for a restock at KStyle PH ,they also ship nationwide and has variety of authentic korean products. This is a 5/5 for me. But, beware of fake aloe vera gels. Since it became popular, many came out trying to mimic it and offers for a lower price. But some complains that it gives them tiny red bumps and other skin irritations. Make sure to double check the product and there are lots of videos on Youtube showing which is real and fake. That's all for now. Thank you for reading. See you on my next blog. Fighting!!

Product Review: Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask

This clay mask with its super volcanic cluster capsules powerfully absorbs sebum to intensively resolve pore concerns.

(Tightens pores + Removes sebum + Exfoliate Deep Skin Cells + Offers Deep Cleansing + Enhances Skin Tone + Provides Cooling Effect)
I am so thankful that I discover deep cleansing, by using clay mask. It is often used once or twice a week. It is also designed to clean those deep seated dirt in your pores that your daily cleanser are not able to remove. Today we will talk about a Korean product which is "Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask".  The product claims that it is made of Jeju volcanic clay which came from the minerals released by the explosion of Jeju volcano.

Price: Php499 - sale
Php650 - original price
100 mL
Where to buy: Online stores (such as Althea) and
Physical Stores (such as Kstyle PH they also ship nationwide)

  • Packaging - the packaging is neat, clean and simple which I like. It comes with a      gorgeous box that speaks korean but it does indicate that it has 100mL, a short description of the product, direction for use, its ingredients and cautions. The packaging of the product itself also speak korean but what I love is the details of the packaging. I think they really put an effort onto it. Also it has its name embossed at the top of its tin cap which I think is really cute. See photo below:

  • Price - Php499 is already pricey here in the Philippines what more its original price of Php650 but in returen, you have a lot of product (100mL) and given that you only use it twice a week this will really last a lifetime.
  • Scent- - it has clay scent but not over powering. You can also smell it while applying but will definitely ade away once dried up. I have no issues or concern regarding the scent, it is totally fine with me.
  • Quality - It does what it claims, tightens pores, enhance skin tone, etc. I can't emphasize enough but this is worth its price. you can definitely feel/see the difference after use. I use it twice a week, for 20 minutes on my face then sheet mask right after. Yes, instant mini spa at home 😉 and I love it. Definitely improves everything onto my face skin.

Overall, this is 4.5/5 for me due to its price, but still I will recommend this for those who can afford. This is a must try if you really want a quality clay mask. Will I repurchase? Maybe I'll try other kind of clay mask, with the same quality but lower price, hihi. Thank you all for reading. See you on my next blog.

Product Review: Olay Total Effects 7-In-One Day Cream Normal SPF 15

They say "Age is just a number", I say "It's okay to age, for as long as you age beautifully and gracefully"

Whether you are in your teens, 20's, 30's or 40's, using sunscreen is a must. It is highly recommended that you wear that sun protection factor even just in your 20's to prevent premature aging. And with consistent use, surely your future self will thank you for such care.

Anyways, today I will share my thoughts about Olay Total Effects 7-In-One Day Cream Normal SPF 15.

Php199.00
Where to buy: Department Store / Watson

For 7 Signs of Youthful Looking Skin
1. Fine lines and wrinkles: reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
2. Uneven tone: balances and evens out skin tone
3. Age spots: reduces appearance of age spots
4.  Uneven texture: smoothes and evens out skin texture
5. Dryness: provides nourishing moisturisation
6. Dullness: gives skin a healthy radiance
7. Pores: minimizes the appearance of pores

        Lets start with the:
  • Packaging - It comes with a black-and-gold box and the packaging itself has goldish body and black pump secreting just the right amount of product, which I think is so cute and unique.
  • Price - Given that it has 12g of products I think it is affordable for its packaging and quality. I also like that it is easily available.
  • Quality - It is yet so far one of the best day cream I had ever tried (next to Clean&Clear Moisturizer with SPF, which I could no longer find in the market). The product itself is a mousse-like cream but it is easily absorbed, non-sticky and doesn't clog pores. A bit overwhelming right but that is how it works on me. It can be comfortably use under makeup and has a decent scent. It also doesn't break me out (though I don't have sensitive skin). It has a SPF which means it doesn't just gives you the 7 signs of youthful looking skin but it also protects your skin from the sun.

I still prefer the Clean&Clear more (it is my holy grail) because it gives me a pinkish glow and it is so lightweight but at least I found an alternative. So, overall, I'll give this product a 4.5/5 score and I highly recommend it. For those with sensitive skin, make sure to check the ingredients to avoid breakouts and use at your own risk. Cons? Maybe the lightweight factor after you applied it. But once it is absorbed (which will take few minutes), we're all good. Thank you for reading. Please do comment down below your thoughts about this product too.

Product Review: Collagen Moisturising and Firming Toner by Watson

This post is all about my fave slash holy grail toner from Watsons. I once was not very much fond of toners till I use this product. I find some toners too drying and harsh for my skin. But since I am currently inspired by the Korean Skincare, I realized the importance of a toner. So, let's begin.

"Collagen by Watsons Moisturising & Firming Toner has an alcohol, colourant and mineral oil free formula that cares for our skin. Enriched with Hyaluronic Aid and Corn Gluten Amino Acid to help replenish and retain skin moisture, it leaves your skin firmer, softer, more supple and radiant after use."

Php200.00 / 150mL
Where to buy: Watsons

Toners does not just removes dirt but also brings back the Ph balance and prep your skin after cleansing it. I accidentally bumped into this product when I was searching for a good toner since some korean brand toners are quite expensive (ranging from Php500.00 and up). When I searched for this product, I saw that it has quite a nice reviews and feedbacks, so I gave it a try. Anyways, I am not using any cotton pads or cotton balls when I'm using it. I merely splash onto my palms, rub it in and pat it on my face gently. I kind of use it as an essence.

Now, regarding the product, these are my thoughts:

  • Packaging - I love its packaging. I believe it's very korean haha :) It comes with a gold box providing all the details about the product. And the toner itself comes into a plastic cylinder-like packaging with black cap with its name (as seen in the picture above). It is nice and sturdy and nothing complicated.
  • Quality - It is true when it says that it will make your skin firmer, softer, more supple and radiant after every use. I am quite impressed right after my first use. It truly minimize your pores and gives you a radiant skin (when use consistently). It is also easily absorbed by the skin. I even use it on my underarms 😜 and it is effective. After cleansing my underarms every night, I splash some of this before I go to sleep. And I like the result.
  • Scent - It has its nice, clean smell on it. Not overpowering.
  • Consistency - It is different from the other toners in the market when it comes to consistency. It is  not water-like. It is quite slimey, if that makes sense. Will make your face quite sticky at first but will definitely fade away once absorbed by the skin. Also, it is just normal that it forms some bubbles when you rub onto your palms.

One thing I also like about this product is it will really last a long time. Given that it is 150mL, you will still have a lot after a week even when you use it day and night, which I do. I love this product and will  definitely repurchase when I finish my first bottle. I highly recommend this. I think everyone should give it a try as it really works on me. Cons? None, actually. Overall it is 5/5.
